Our lawyers practice in a wide range of legal areas including administrative, admiralty, antitrust, appeals, bankruptcy, business and corporate, computer, construction, contract, employee benefits, government, environmental, land use, finance, government contracts, governmental, health care, immigration, insurance, intellectual property, international, joint ventures, labor and employment, lender representation, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, products liability, public finance, real estate, regulated industries, securities, taxation, trade regulation, trusts and estates, venture capital, and workers' compensation. Our firm's size allows our lawyers to concentrate in their chosen areas of practice. This concentration permits us to stay abreast of the latest developments in our areas of practice. Many of our lawyers publish articles and speak on advanced topics in their respective fields. We believe that this level of substantive expertise, coupled with our dedication to individual client service, provides our clients with the best legal representation. A Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program has been developed for all firm lawyers, enabling us to meet or exceed the Florida Bar's CLE requirement and maintain a high level of professional competency. Our education program includes in-house presentations, departmental training sessions, and seminars in specific practice areas. OUR PEOPLE According to many of the lawyers who join our firm, one of the most often cited reasons for doing so is "the people." Fowler White Boggs Banker is committed to hiring and retaining bright, capable and energetic lawyers who also exhibit outstanding "people skills." Our lawyers hail from thirty states and over sixty law schools across the nation. Our diverse backgrounds and education enhance the breadth of experience we offer our clients. Some of our lawyers teach at local universities and law schools. Fowler White Boggs Banker lawyers are active in the American Bar Association and their respective state and county bar organizations and many serve in leadership capacities for those organizations. COMMUNITY COMMITMENT Cody Fowler and Morris White established a longstanding tradition of contributing to the communities where we live and work. Our attorneys participate in professional, civic, charitable and community activities outside the firm. We support pro bono activities, and many of our attorneys serve as board and committee members of leading community organizations across the state. Some of those organizations include the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Bay Area Legal Services, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, various Chambers of Commerce, Children's Cancer Center, local Community Foundations, Easter Seals, Epilepsy Foundation, Florida Orchestra, Lifepath Hospice, H. L. Moffitt Cancer Center, Metropolitan Ministries, Naples Philharmonic, Neighborhood Health Clinic, Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center and United Way. Fowler White Boggs Banker's Courthouse Assistance Project was recognized nationwide as a model for providing legal assistance to the working poor. Our firm received the Chief Justice's Law Firm Commendation, a statewide award, for our efforts in this program. Recently, Fowler White Boggs Banker teamed up with TECO Energy to endow a chair to Bay Area Legal Services. The position is much like an endowed chair at a university, which will provide full time legal assistance through the Legal Information Center mainly to those individuals or families who cannot afford an attorney. Our two companies essentially donated an attorney to Hillsborough County residents. MANAGEMENT AND SUPPORT SERVICES A six-member Board of Directors is our firm's governing body, with the voting support of our shareholders. Areas of practice are organized within a statewide and department structure under the supervision of senior shareholders who function as statewide chairs and department heads. More than three hundred fifty legal support staff perform paralegal, secretarial, and administrative functions.
