Balanacan is the main port serving towns on the west side of Marinduque, including the capital town of Boac and the municipalities of Mogpog, Buenavista and Gasan. It links Marinduque with the provinces of Batangas, Mindoro, Quezon, Romblon, Masbate and even Metro Manila and other islands of the Visayas. PORT PROFILE Location Balanacan, one of the two national ports of entry in the province of Marinduque, is located at Lat. 13o 31.9' N., Longitude 121o 52' E northwest of Marinduque, SW of San Andres Point, Balanacan, Marinduque. Sea Distance It is 27 nautical miles to Dalahican, Lucena City ad 57 nautical miles to Batangas City. Sea distance to Manila is 150 nautical miles. Total Port Area 5,174.75 square meters. Operational area: 576.00 square meters. Commercial area: 4,598.75 square meters. Access Road Provincial road. PORT FACILITIES Description The total area of the port of Balanacan is 580.25 sq.m. with a pier area of 481.50 sq.m. Berthing Facilities T-shaped 35m. x 9m. pier constructed on reinforced concrete deck supported by reinforced concrete piles and provided with mooring bitts and fenders. Storage Facilities A 200 sq.m. concrete cargo shed, 15 sq.m. of which is utilized as office by the cargo handling contractor. Approximately 4,760 sq.m. reclaimed area is used for marshalling, parking and open storage. Ro-ro Facility One (1) roro ramp measuring 7m. x 12m. Anchorage & Fairways Anchor off middle of eastern side of Magdumug Island in 20.1m. depth, or proceed close to Salvari Island. Anchorage at 12.8 mud bottom southwest of Pig Point. Passenger Terminal A 150 sq.m. passenger shed complete with amenities such as canteen, ticket booth and comfort rooms is operated by the Girl Scouts of the Philippines. Maintenance of the building is the responsibility of the GSP. Draft Draft is 7 m. below MLLW. PORT SERVICES Cargo Handling Arrastre/stevedoring and porterage services are provided by Balanacan Arrastre and Stevedoring Services, Inc. which is operating under a hold over permit Communication Services Local radio, telephone and telegraphic services are available at the town proper. Pilotage Not compulsory. Water Supply Available in limited quantities from local suppliers. Fuel Available from Caltex Depot in Balogo, Sta.
