The Port of Pasacao mainly services the fishing industry of the province of Camarines Sur, as wellas traffic from the nearby islands. Other chief commodities handled are cement and copra for inward, cargo and sugar, bottled cargo and animal feeds for outbound cargo. PORT PROFILE Location Latitude 13 30 N Longitude 123 3 E on the south western side of the island of Luzon. The port is located some 10 kilometers from the main highway and about one kilometer west of the town proper. Pasacao lies near the head of a cove bounded on the south west by theBondoc Peninsula and the Burias Island. It is about 30 kilometers northwest of Naga City. Sea distance to Manila is 223 nautical miles. Navigational Approach The cove is about one mile in extent, but the shore is fringed by a reef, with sand and mud over it, which considerably lessens the available anchor area. The anchorage is in 3 to 5 fathoms (5.5 to 9.1 meters), mud bottom, but is exposed to the southwest. Sometimes, a choppy sea sets in which makes landing on the beach through the surf dangerous. A reinforced concrete pier on concrete piles for handling general, liquid and dry bulk cargoes. Berthing Facilities Consist of a 9 m wide reinforced concrete pier 58 m long piles whose deck is 3 meters above MLLWL. V-type rubber fenders supplemented by tires allowing closer berthing. Draft alongside below MLLWL varies from 1 m at near end to 6 m at far end. Storage Facilities An open storage area of 3,300 sq. m. Anchorage & Fairways Anchorage is between Pasacao Point and Refugio Island in 3 to 5 fathoms (5.5 to 9.1 meters) mud bottom but exposed to southwest. PORT SERVICES Cargo Handling Operations are primarily manual with PPA s designated contractor, JFK Arrastre Services, Inc. providing arrastre and stevedoring services. Shipping Agents Candano Shipping Lines, tramping vessels only. Communication Services Telegraph and telephone services are available at Naga City. Bunkering All grades of bunkers are available from local suppliers and delivered through road tankers. Pilotage Compulsory. Water Supply Water is delivered through road tankers or pipelines by the Pasacao Water District.
