For four Canadian chartered banks, $25 million was recovered in a dispute with customers who were Names at Lloyds' of London, concerning fraudulent calls allegedly made in England on their letters of credit. For a Canadian chartered bank, a large recovery was made on an $11 million fraud loss from an American casino, where stolen funds were gambled by the Bank's employee. For a large Canadian law firm, full recovery was made on $10 million stolen from its trust account by a rogue employee. The funds were traced to an account at a bank in the Ukraine. Computer forensic technology established that the culprit had fraudulently transferred funds from his office computer while speaking on the phone to an accomplice in the Ukraine. For a professional mortgage administrator, contributory negligence was proven against the mortgage lender for a $7 million fraud loss on a commercial mortgage. For a Canadian chartered bank, recovery was made on a fraud loss relating to loan security taken against automobiles for dealership financing. Auction proceeds from the stolen cars were identified and traced to an American bank account controlled by the owner of the dealership. For wealthy offshore investors, stolen assets were traced to American bank accounts controlled by dishonest investment advisers. The bank was persuaded to return stolen funds and to pay others into court. For a bank customer defrauded by an unscrupulous branch manager, our investigation proved the fraud, permitting a favourable settlement on an outstanding loan, and assisting the Bank in recovery of the stolen funds. For two U.S. investors, stolen funds laundered by a Nigerian confidence man through several bank accounts were traced and recovered. Auction proceeds from the stolen cars were identified and traced to an American bank account controlled by the owner of the dealership. For wealthy offshore investors, stolen assets were traced to American bank accounts controlled by dishonest investment advisers. The bank was persuaded to return stolen funds and to pay others into court. For a bank customer defrauded by an unscrupulous branch manager, our investigation proved the fraud, permitting a favourable settlement on an outstanding loan, and assisting the Bank in recovery of the stolen funds.
