ESB Competence in harbour- and deep-sea-towage The roots of 1994 founded Emder Schlepp-Betrieb GmbH reach back to the year 1859. In those days sailor Peter Wichmanns Wessels, at home on all the seven seas, took in tow with his motorized cutter Primus a large sailing vessel laying at anchor off Borkum due to dead calm whilst he was returning from the fishing grounds in the North Sea. With his cutter he towed this sailing vessel safely to her destination port Emden and laid with this operation the foundations of the towage business. Today ESB operates five modern costal- and harbour-tugs. On the basis of border-crossing cooperation agreements and close links to other German tug-owners ESB has immediate access to additional tugs to face every specific demand. ESB, the name of the company stands for Efficiency , Safety and Being ready . ESB-tugs offer a 365-days-a-year / 24-hours-service enabling seagoing vessels a quick and safe mooring or unmooring operation whatever the weather. Experienced and well-trained masters and their crews make ESB a competent partner for shipping companies and ship yards in the ports along the river Ems and along the entire North Sea coast. The range of services includes assistance during launches, pontoon-transports and conveyance of newbuildings as well as passenger and cargo transports and every different work on hydraulic construction sites. World-wide contacts enable ESB to offer solutions for all requirements in the field of harbour towage, for offshore projects and for the transportation of project cargoes of every kind over the sea.
