Glance Of Work 37 Years Of Quality Marine Services The 4-bladed controller pitch propeller of the bow thruster was noted popped out from the shaft of a container ship where oil noted leaking from the bolts, dowel pins & the ring of the shaft. Repair was performed to have epoxy compound applied to seal the oil leakage noted. The propeller assembly which found popped out from the shaft was moved out from the tunnel with lifting bags, brought up to 2M from the waterline, hooked, hoisted up to the vessel and recovered. The shaft assembly was then protected with a protection cap. Damage survey performed on a bulk cargo carrier at Port of San Diego , California. Where a section of bilge keel measured at 2850mm (L) noted broken and curled at starboard side. Repair was performed to have the damaged portion of the bilge keel cut off and removed. A horizontal crack of 1460mm (L) was noted at the inspection door cover which extended to both ends of the rudder blade of a self-discharging bulk carrier during survey. Repair was performed to have the paint coats of crack ground off, cleaned and followed by MPI inspection. Three arrest holes were drilled at the break & roots of the crack respectively. The crack was beveled, cleaned and then fixed with weld. We attended a general cargo carrier for a propeller polish and were very interested when told by the Supt. of the carrier that she was just back to service from the drydock for two weeks. The Supt. further told us that such decision was made from the satisfaction on our performance which we made on another propeller polish for her sister ship, the carrier was doing an extra 1/2 knot after the polish which made their owner very pleased. Emergency call received from the agent of a bulk carrier reported that one unit of railway track for the delivery of a new gauge crane from the carrier to ashore the new terminal in Los Angeles Harbor, California was dropped into the water during discharging and a replacement track would take seven to ten days to finish which was very critical to both the carrier and the terminal's schedule. Underwater search team was dispatched with remote-operated vehicle, side-scan sonar and necessary equipment to target the dropped track; the dropped track was successfully found and recovered All graphics on the page is the property of Williamson Marine Services Ltd., LLC and Williamson Marine Service Limited. Underwater Hull Cleaning 37 Years Of Quality Marine Services The marine growth can affect a ship hull in many ways such as : -the increase deadweight, waveloading and drag -exaggeration or lessening of corrosion -concealment of metal surface features and defects from inspection -by reducing or blocking of seawater intakes A ship's fuel performance usually begins falling off around eight months after drydock and continues to deteriorate rapaidy. Underwater marine growth can cost a shipowner million of extra dollars in time and fuel costs each year. To maximize fuel savings and reduce deterioration of costly hull protective coatings, the Hull C leaning System is used to remove accumulated marine growth from ships bottoms or submerged offshore structures . The surface finish of the blade is much critical than most ship owner realize. At the same time a few micron of increased roughness will increase fuel consumption. Water is a natural lubrication for propeller polishing, therefore in -water polishing get a finish far superior to that of dry polish. Williamson Marine Services ( WMS ) performs propeller polishing based on accepted standards. WMS guarantees excellent surface finish, 1 micron Center Line Average ( C.L.A. ). Finishing of the entire propeller and removal marine growth, calcium and basal plate deposits without gouging of the surface is achieved using the special equipment. Propeller Polishing 37 Years Of Quality Marine Services Before propeller polishing When the propeller roughness increases, it decreases the efficiency of the propeller and let the colonization of the unit by marine fouling, eventually increasing drag and fuel consumption. Rountine propeller polishing can save fuel and money. Ships propellers roughness comparator scale give you the guideline of the limits for the propeller roughness .
