The LV Group started as a local Dutch haulage company operating under the name of Lensveld. Holland is still the major hub for all mainland European transport with a diverse fleet of equipment - 50 trucks, 80 specialist trailers (extendables up to 45 metres, hydraulic trailers for wide loads and semi-lowloaders), 12 smaller vehicles with own cranes and over 50 ferry trailers form the basis of the road transport operation. The Dutch office in Vlaardingen - Rotterdam offers the following services: Road Transport Deep sea shipping - conventional/containers Short sea chartering Ship's agencies Project Airfreight Stevedoring (own quayside) Container logistics - truck/train/barge Full FOB services Rotterdam/Antwerp & other European ports Customs Services Import & Export Agents Distribution & Warehousing Project Forwarding Heavy Lifts The LV Group started in Holland around the turn of the century, the company being known as Lensveld. The Dutch Chamber of Commerce shows the Lensveld name first appearing in 1921, trading in road transport, road building and sand. It is a family name and at one stage, five Lensveld brothers were involved in the business. In the seventies, the sand and construction division was made independent. This left Lensveld with the core road transport operation, which developed into the full logistic package LV have today. The LV Group is still independent, privately owned. After diversifying it's Dutch activities, the first expansion outside Holland was the opening of a German facility in 1973. The LV German interests are now based in Bremen. In 1980 LV Holland also expanded into the UK, opening a ferry trailer office in Sheerness, which later was consolidated into the newly formed LV Shipping Ltd, which started in 1986 from the existing Felixstowe base. Middlesbrough, Aberdeen, Rainham, Heathrow, Newcastle, Immingham and Southampton being added in the following years. The dynamic growth of the UK division was at first due to major contract awards for Project Freight Forwarding with leading international oil companies. However, over the last 8 years the growth has also been in our expanding global general freight forwarding. This coupled with acquisitions has given us the foundation to succeed in the modern marketplace. LV's Group head office is still based at Vlaardingen - Rotterdam, Europe's largest container port and the UK head office is based at Felixstowe, UK's largest container port. The LV Group has gradually expanded outside Europe with appointed agents and partners in most countries (Far East, Middle East, USA, India, etc) All of this gives us the platform to focus on our key goal - meeting the customer needs The LV Group started as a local Dutch haulage company operating under the name of Lensveld.
