The island is well positioned and offers a European quality infrastructure, high standard of living and a wide range of incentives resulting in reduced operating and administrative costs. As a result, Cyprus is now well established as an attractive international business and maritime centre. Multi-national teams of professionals supply the expertise to manage the fleet, liaising with principals, crews and a network of subsidiaries and representative offices in key shipping centres from our headquarters in the port city of Limassol. Through a flexible approach and total commitment to personal service and quality management, Marlow Navigation has acquired an enviable reputation in the shipping world for dependability, business acumen and operating efficiency. In September 1997, the company was successfully audited for I.S.M. compliance and was given the "Document of Compliance" (D.O.C) by Germanischer Lloyd, which is accepted and recognised by most flag state administrations. The D.O.C. covers passenger vessels, bulk-carriers and other cargo ships. Marlow Navigation offers the complete range of ship management, marine consultancy and ancillary services, providing tailor-made proposals to meet each individual client's needs. A multi-disciplinary team of professionals, with extensive seagoing experience and fully conversant with national and international regulations, manages the daily technical, maintenance, repair and operational aspects of each vessel. Thorough technical and nautical supervision with shore-based monitoring of operational and financial matters, achieves the strictest adherence to tough safety disciplines and meticulous cost control. Regular visits on board, together with ongoing communications between the ship and the Management team enable Marlow Navigation to constantly monitor performance, offer immediate technical advice and provide proactive vessel management. Particular attention is paid to preventive maintenance planning and repair scheduling to avoid off-hires. Marlow Navigation's technical management procedures are supported by a first rate administrative system. The Company maintains close contact with regulatory bodies and Classification Societies and ensures that vessels are fully classed and seaworthy at all times. The Company also provides full marine insurance services including claims processing, working closely with brokers to protect clients' assets on the most competitive terms. Marlow Navigation employs high calibre recruiting officers working out of a network of crewing office located in shipping centres, including Rotterdam, Hamburg, Manila, Gdansk, Szczecin, St. Petersburg, Kalinigrad and Odessa. Crew members are personally selected and prospective applicants carefully screened to verify their experience, competence, fitness and comprehension of English prior to enlistment. The designated Crew Superintendent selects and engages the command and crew of each vessel taking fully into account special clients requests. There is strict adherence to internal Quality Standards, full compliance with IMO and STCW 95 requirements, and the manning stipulations of the vessel and her registry. A policy of selective rehire ensures that crew members return to their previous vessels or to other vessels of the same client. Continuous upgrade training and performance appraisal guarantee quality manpower, proficiency and safety on board. Electronic access of clients to our systems promotes transparency of operations and contributes to a more efficient planning. Furthermore it serves the needs of clients' I.S.M. requirements. Following recruitment, Ship Superintendents and staff provide a worldwide support network for crews, attending to their welfare, general administration and day-to-day needs. Crew Superintendents make regular visits on board and provide a valuable interface between crews, officers, the management team and the client. Such frequent contact enables crew performance to be continuously monitored and evaluated, training needs readily identified and revised safety programmes and procedures implemented. The positive effect on morale and operating efficiency is evident. Marlow Navigation's crew management services are flexible and competitive and cover the complete spectrum of human resources management for the ship owner. Marlow Navigation Company Ltd.
