Effectively managing our assets and operating costs. Ensuring honesty and fairness guide all our actions. McKeil Marine Limited is a family-owned company that has been involved in various sectors of the marine industry since 1956. Having begun as Evans McKeil Work Boats Limited, the company has grown and diversified its activities in the fields of marine transportation, towing, ship docking, icebreaking, salvage services, chartering, and marine construction. With a fleet in excess of 45 vessels and 60 barges, McKeil Marine specializes in the transportation of dry and liquid bulk, oversized project cargoes, heavy equipment, and general cargo on the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence River, the eastern seaboard and in the Canadian Arctic. The acquisition of larger, ocean-going tugs and barges has also enabled us to expand into the international trade market. McKeil Marine Limited is a market leader within the marine industry. Much of our success can be attributed to the more than 200 men and women who have helped establish and maintain the company s reputation for marine expertise and engineering ingenuity. From our shore personnel, which includes naval architects, engineers and project managers, through to our crew of seasoned professional mariners, we are ready to meet the most stringent needs of our customers, wherever and whenever the need arises. McKeil Marine Limited is headquartered in Hamilton and has commercial offices and operational facilities in several cities including Toronto, Montreal, and St. John's. As a leader in providing innovative strategies for water borne transportation, McKeil Marine s bulk transportation group is strongly positioned to move a variety of liquid commodities. In addition, we provide a specialized packaged goods service which can be tailored to meet the exact demands of our customers. Our liquid bulk fleet is comprised of several tank barges and one ship, capable of carrying between 1,000 and 14,000 tons of cargo. For the past decade, they have been transporting commodities such as calcium chloride, liquid asphalt, and clean petroleum products on the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence River and the eastern seaboard. Our fleet of tugs, barges and ships provide a cost-effective alternative to conventional rail and road transportation methods. Consistently efficient and reliable, we provide the expertise and experience to move your liquid bulk cargoes to their destination. Minimize costs and maximize operating efficiencies with the barge division of McKeil Marine. McKeil Marine s dry bulk fleet is positioned throughout the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence Seaway and the eastern seaboard. Our dry bulk fleet is comprised of several deck barges, hopper barges, and Ro-Ro vessels capable of carrying between 500 and 10,000 tons of various commodities. These vessels have been transporting commodities such as forest products, aggregates, steel, scrap metals, and gypsum between various ports in Canada and the United States. Tug and barge transportation is a very effective way of transporting dry bulk products while reducing the traffic on our highways (i.e. one 10,000 ton barge is equivalent to between 250 to 300 trucks on our highways.) Utilizing tug and barge transportation for dry bulk goods is a cost effective and an environmentally friendly way of transporting cargo. Unfortunately this means of transportation is underutilized. McKeil Marine has become an industry leader in the transportation of project and general cargo. With a barge fleet in excess of 60 units, ranging in size from 500 to 10,000 DWT, we have been transporting general oversized and heavy equipment since 1956. In order to better serve the general cargo market McKeil Marine has acquired barges ranging in size from 17,000 to 27,000 square feet.
