Welcome to Short Sea Promotion Danmark Profile: Welcome Vision Organisation Regulations Shortsea Network Shortsea Promotion Danmark" in English) was established recently in the Port of Aarhus with the objective to increase the knowledge by transport buyers of shortsea shipping as the natural choice nationally and internationally - also for door-to-door traffic. It involves tramp trade and liner shipping within the European Continent incl. the Mediterranean, the Black Sea and the Baltic region as well as improved utilization of the inland waterways of Europe for carriage of goods. Shortsea Promotion Danmark is a business foundation established jointly by the Danish Ministry of Transport, FAA Holding A/S (stevedores) and the Port of Aarhus (see regulations). Shortsea Promotion Danmark will shortly develop this homepage to become a dynamic, electronic show window as a maritime portal for transport buyers, shipowners, shipbrokers as well as Danish port enterprises. Shortsea Promotion Danmark has specified its vision, strategy and goals according to the political expectation given in the statues of the foundation. Strategy - to gather information on and promote shortsea shipping in order to alter the behavior of transport buyers. Goal - to have as much cargo as possible carried by sea as soon as possible. Sister organisations in Europe Profile: Welcome Vision Organisation Regulations Shortsea Network Since the establishment of Short Sea Shipping/Voorlichtingsburea in the Netherlands in 1998 the formation of similar activities in other countries have accelerated. Actually in addition to Denmark there are now sister organisations to Shortsea Promotion Danmark established in the following countries: Finland Flanders France Germany Greece Ireland Italy Norway Poland Portugal Spain Sweden The Netherlands At the same time the Promotion Centres have launched a formal cooperation between themselves and indeed vis-a-vis the EU Commission's Directorate General for Energy and Transport under the umbrella of European Shortsea Network (ESN) which can be reached on their common website www.shortsea.info. ESN publishes a maritime internet portal containing a.o. national data bases with shortsea services to and from European seaports and at a later stage also ports situated by the extensive inland waterways systems of rivers and canals. This network contributes to strengthening the profile of Shortsea Shipping as well as reinforcing the impact of our ongoing tasks to promote the industry all over Europe.
