PORTA ODRA ltd. was founded in February 1995 and had purchased both the real estate and assets of the former state-run Odra Shipyard (founded in 1951) and adopted a part of its qualified staff, to carry on the business and good traditions of both repair and construction of ships. During about 40 years Odra Shipyard built many push boats, tugs, trawlers, barges and car/passenger ferries. The company PORTA ODRA was established by Szczecin Shipyard (Stocznia Szczecinska S.A.) which in the beginning possessed 100% of its shares. The capital relationship contributed to a firm foundation for a further growth of the company. PORTA ODRA produces: steel hull sections hulls superstructures container guides masts, crane's columns rudders communication platforms funnels other steel structures One of the main objective of the company's strategy is to enhance the co-operation with foreign partners in the field of ship module construction, marine steel structures, repair and construction of both inland water and small sea-going vessels. During last few years Porta Odra built thousands tons of sections and different steel structures including: 1996 - the bulb bow for a trawler from Iceland 1997 - the hull of an inland passenger vessel for a German shipyard 1998 - bow sections of a chemical tanker for Danyard shipyard 1998/1999 - two hulls of purse seiners for Norwegian owners 1999 - the conversion of the 100 years old riveted hull into the yacht 2000 - the hull of a car/passenger ferry for Faroe Islands 2000 - a dock gate for Szczecin Shipyard 2000/2001 - a tank barge for Porta Zegluga The co-operation with both Szczecin Shipyard and other world renowned shipyard has contributed to the continuation of high quality work produced at PORTA ODRA.
