Our company has emerged from Schiffswerft Neptun , one of the oldest German shipbuilding companies with a rich tradition. The yard was founded as Maschinenbauanstalt Schiffswerft in Rostock in 1850, and from 1890 it has traded as a joint stock company under the name of Neptun Schiffswerft und Maschinenfabrik . During the 150 years of the company s history we built more than 1500 new ships and repaired thousands of vessels for owners worldwide. The building of new sea-going ships was discontinued after the re-unification of Germany, and as a consequence of the requirement to open up new fields of production and sale the Neptunwerft yard split up into three companies: Neptun Industrie, Neptun Reparaturwerft and Neptun Stahlbau. The repair and modernization of ships and all kinds of floating craft, the supply of shipbuilding components, structural hydraulic engineering and the fabrication of complex Ro-Ro equipment have been in the centre of production since that time. Since 1997 we have been a subsidiary of the Meyer Werft group of companies. This was the beginning of a new era with a strict orientation towards the future based on the great competencies of the individual companies. After a break of 10 years, the building of new ships in the assembly shops of NEPTUN was resumed in April 2001 with the start of flame-cutting work for the river cruise vessel A ROSA BELLA . Today we have plenty of experience in the building of river vessels and in ship repairs and we can rely on an efficient, well qualified and highly motivated staff. With our efficient projecting and designing capacities on the spot, with up-to-date equipment and process engineering and an experienced management we stand for an excellent price/performance ratio, for delivery according to schedule and for highest quality.
