Welcome to our new Web Site! We established Meissner as a family business in 1974 and although surrounded by giant winch manufacturers like Barlow and Barient, we knew we had to fulfil our dream of becoming the world's foremost winch manufacturer, if not in quantity then at least in quality. We rented a leaky farmyard shed in the Dutch countryside which, fortunately for us, we outgrew within a year, only to move into a bigger shed, which was equally leaky, in 1975. Here in the medieval town of Brielle, we made winches for many famous yachts, winning the Australian and New Zealand one-ton and North American half-ton championships, the Pan-Am Clipper Round Hawaii Race, South Trans-Atlantic Race, Trans Pac and too many more to mention. And so our name became synonymous with quality, reliability and safety! In 1987 we moved to modern premises in the naval town of Hellevoetsluis, where we designed most of our latest range: Self-tailers, electric and hydraulic powered winches, and the unique Mega winches. Last year we headed South and can now be found in Middelburg, in the province of Zeeland on the shores of the North Sea. We still make the world's best winches but nowadays on the latest CNC controlled equipment. Last but not least, we have taken another major but logical step: the founding of Meissner Winches North America Inc., in Portland, Maine. We still hold on to our dream of 1974, which kept us warm in the leaky shed, and we're still committed to improving our quality and service because the fulfilment of that dream is to make you a satisfied and happy customer. And isn't that what we all want? Please feel free to contact me via my personal E-mail address to discuss any comments or recommendations that you might have. Enjoy our Web Site.
