As can be concluded, Pott + Koerner is professionally conversant with container transport arrangements as well as the handling of dry cargo vessels and command an excellent knowledge of the German market with first class customer contacts having access to market segments concerning both conventional and containerized cargo. Since we enjoy a good reputation in shipping circles, our company is also engaged in husbanding for a number of shipowners. Moreover, we handle gas tankers and bulkers for various principals. To assist and support the various functions both operationally and administratively Pott + Koerner provide EDP back-up that facilitate effecient and smooth conduct of activities. As far as the German hinterland is concerned, Pott + Koerner have working arrangements with reputable people selling our principals? service in our name if so requested. Our History The history of Pott + Korner dates back to the year 1777 when a Mr. Johann Jacob Hieronymus Huttmann took an oath before the "Deputation of Commerce" in Hamburg on March 21 to be admitted as member to the honourable circle of the "Institute of Sworn Brokers". In 1831 the granddaughter of the founder was married to Mr. Wilhelm Pott whose cousin Herman Wilhelm Pott joined the firm as partner. The style of the firm was now changed to H.W. Pott, Joh. Huttmann jun. Nachf. and in 1844 to H.W. Pott. H.W. Pott concentrated much on the Holland trade being handled by steamships now, but also the traffic with countries overseas, which had played little role so far, became increasingly important. H.W. Pott remained unmarried, and since Willem Pott had two daughters but no son, the family had to look for a successor. The obvious choice was Mr. Korner who had been with the firm from apprenticeship. He was taken into partnership and in 1858 the style of the firm was changed to H.W. Pott + Korner as is still today. Pott + Korner has always been moving with the times though never forgetting its roots and tradition as reliable business partners. Today H.W. Pott + Korner is an advanced and solidly managed shipping-agency having its headoffice in Hamburg and branch offices in Bremen, Freigericht, Gdansk, St. Petersburg, Vienna and Budapest. The firm belongs to the Gebruder Specht-Group. Pott + Korner have been certified according to DIN EN ISO 9002 by Det Norske Veritas. H.W.
