Bangkok Port Details The Bangkok Port is situated on the left side of the Chao Phraya River Between km 26 and km 29 of the Klongtoey sub-district, Bangkok. The entrance to the Chao Phraya River is marked by the Bangkok bar light beacon situated at Lat. 13 26 N. Long. 100 35 E. The approach to the port is made through the bar channel which is 18 km in length, 100 meters wide in the reaches and 250 meters wide in the bend. The depth of the river within the port area varies from - 8.5 m to - 11m below MSL. The limiting draught of vessels entering the port is determined by the bar adder plus the depth of water from LLW. The maximum LOA of vessels is 565 ft. Maximum entering or sailing draft of vessel varies between 25-27 feet fresh water. Pilot and tugs are compulsory within Bangkok port area. Vessels carrying general cargoes containers and/or passengers must be berthed at the Bangkok Port however there are also some few private terminal, which allow operating for containers and general cargo vessel. In respect of bulk commodities i.e. agriculture product, fertilize, iron and or liquid cargo vessels can load/discharge at private berth or mid steam berth.
