If vessel draft if over 8.6m she must be discharged a part of cgos at anchorage to reduce the draft. In this case Pilot bottom clearance required 0.8-0.9m for safe berthing. It's also required by Port auth to use 2 powerful tugs Hp & 3,200 Hp to assist vessel berthing/unberthing. At moment the tugs cap 3,200 Hp is not available at Cailan Port, therefore, the port auth has to employ it from Campha Port. Vessel DWT over 25,000 mts to berth at Cailan should be negotiated by the ship agent with port auth in advance. The turning basic depth 6.5-6.7m chart datum and narrow width is 220m Load/Discharging Method Using Ship's gears + port grab or Port's conveyor (bulk cgos). Discharging Canola Oil Will be discharged by one shore hose with rate 1,500-3,000mt / perday ( Hose side 6 inch) Tug Boat 1 x 1200HP, 1 x 1800HP, 1 x 450HP available at the port. 1x 3200HP, unavailable at port but convey from port nearby far from about 30miles. One is for Promisex Co. with Max capacity 5,000mt and one is VOSA's Bonded Tanks 6,200mt. Tug Boat 1 x 1200HP, 1 x 1800HP, 1 x 450HP available at the port. Sunday and Holiday will work if requested ny shippers Anchorages for Loading Coall at Campha Roadstead (Halong Bay Area): +Position (A) with max draft of 9.50M: At Lat 20 58'16" N- Long 107 20'36" E +Position (B) with max draft from 12.00 M - 14.00 M At Lat 20 55'3" N- Long 107 16'5" E 20 54'6 N- Long 107 16'1" The anchorage of Campha roadstead are located over good holding ground with sand/mud bottom and safe protect from all winds. In 1999-2000 the vessel agent have arranged for 02 cases of vessels berthing by souble banking at Cailan inlcuding 01 vsl's DWT/25,000 discharging 15,000mt of wheat in bulk and one tanker's DWT/11,000 double banking outside discharging 7,000mt of Veg Oil in buk at berth. In this case harbour master required one power tug standingby at berth. In the future, it have got a project to build additional 03 berths at Cailan aArea which they will be possible to accept vessel DWT 40,000mt calling and the inner channel will be dredged deeper. The project of additional berth contruction will be started in early of 2000. The contruction will be within 5 years. Wheat in bulk supplying material productions for Vinaflour's plant located far from berth 500m. Discharging method will be by shore unloader system with discharging rate 2,000 - 2,500mt/day iwp - volume 200,000mt in 1999. Soda Ash (15,000mt in 1999) Fertilizer (200,000mt handling in 1999) and meals in bulk (60,000mt in 1999) with discharging rate 2,000mt - 2,200mt/day based on 3-4 gangs IWP. Discharge method by ship gears. Crane driver and grabs will be arranged by local Sttevedore. Cargo will be discharging from shp's holds and it will be bagged onto piers Wood Chips in bulk loading at Cailan port with volume 4,000mt in 1999. However, in 2000 the volume will be increased. There is one wood chip plant located at Cailan berth areas. There will be about 20,000mt of wood chip in bulk loading at Cailan in 2000. Loading rate will be about 1,500mt - 1,800mt/day based on 3-4 working day IWP - Loading method will be by ship's gear. Crane driver and grab will be arranged by local Stevedore.
