Since the Shipping, Trading & Lighterage Co. L.L.C was established by Ruler's Decree in 1974, it has operated under the universally recognised acronym 'STALCO'. The company, which is owned by two prominent businessmen, Mr Rashid Al Majid and Mr Khalid Juma Al Majid, is managed by the Thabet Group, one of Yemen's leading shipping agents, represented by Capt. Mansoor Y.A. Ghafoor. STALCO has six main operating divisions: Shipping Agency, International Freight Forwarding, Exhibitions Handling, Air Cargo, Travel & Tourism and Real Estate. All divisions are represented at the company's head office in the Shipping Tower overlooking Dubai's Port Rashid. The company also has branch offices in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Khor Fakkan, Fujairah and Jebel Ali, the Middle East's most active Logistics & Distribution Centre. Through this Emirates-wide network of offices STALCO provides its many valued customers with the high levels of support and service they deserve. All company divisions and branch offices are managed by carefully selected, experienced staff. As part of its on-going training programme, STALCO provides staff with regular training and encourage them to attend seminars and international conferences where they can expand their knowledge of developments within the Shipping & Freight Forwarding industries. STALCO's comprehensive service is further enhanced by the activities of the company's London based office which was opened in 1986 to facilitate the development of air and sea freight services between the United Kingdom, as a Worldwide Centre Point, and the U.A.E. STALCO works with some of the U.A.E's leading banking establishments, including the Commercial Bank of Dubai and the United Arab Bank in Dubai, Mashreq Bank and the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank in Abu Dhabi. STALCO is nominated as the sole member representing U.A.E in the prestigious Multiport Ship Agencies Network and a member of the National Committee of Freight Forwarders (NCFF) Dubai.
